A college preparatory program for high school students designed to help build academic and social skills and generate a positive attitude toward success in their education. Provides critical educational services and activities for eligible 13 to 18 year-old students in northern Utah.

The F.A.C.T. initiative provides flexible, comprehensive, preventive services to families with children at risk of failing in school, and/or at risk of abuse and neglect. The program involves the Departments of Human Services, Health, Public Education, and the Juvenile Courts. The new Department of Workforce Services will also be involved.

Offers consultation re your rights in IEPs. Parent Advocate, Sherilin Rowley, will assist during the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process at no charge.

Native American students

Utah Programs include:
AIS PREP – In partnership with Utah State University, AIS established a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Program for 7th-8th grade students in Blanding and Roosevelt. AIS Literacy – In partnership with the Ken Garff Road to Success program, AIS helps provide literacy programs in 11 predominantly Native American schools to help students increase their progress in reading, in an effort to combat the high dropout rate of children between K-12th grades.
AIS Mentoring – In partnership with the San Juan Foundation, AIS helps provide mentoring programs for K-12th grade students at under-performing schools on or near the reservation.

Upward Bound is a college preparation program for high school students from low income families or who are potential first generation college students.

Provides education to raise dyslexia awareness, empower families to support their children and inform policy-makers on best practices to identify, remediate and support students with dyslexia in Utah public schools. Several online resources available on website.

Provides University services and support services in Weber and Davis Counties. Offers certification, degree, and graduate degree programs along with various student support centers, tutoring, childcare, etc. Offers class locations in Ogden, Clearfield, Roy, Layton, Morgan and Farmington. COVID-19 UPDATE: following all CDC and state guidelines. Offering virtual, in-person, online and hybrid classes. Masks are recommended for those who have not been vaccinated. Virtual appointments available depending on the department.

The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc. (COPAA) is an independent, nonprofit, §501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization of attorneys, advocates, parents and related professionals. COPAA focuses on the rights of children who receive special education services and supports, and who are eligible to be served under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other statutes. This includes working to ensure that children with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). COPAA endeavors to improve the quality and quantity of legal assistance for parents of children with disabilities. COPAA does not represent individual parents but provides a network to assist, train, and inform advocates, attorneys, parents, and related professionals.
