Grants - Federal grants are free, need based college funding that does not need to be repaid. The following federal grants are available to eligible BYU students.

Pell Grant - Pell Grants are awarded solely on demonstrated financial need to eligible undergraduate students who have not already earned a bachelor's or professional degree.

ACG Grant - ACG Grants are available to first and second year undergraduate students who are receiving Pell Grants and who completed a rigorous secondary education as defined by the federal government. Loans - Subsidized Stafford - if a student must borrow money to pay college expenses, Subsidized Stafford Loans are generally the first choice, because they have a low, fixed interest rate. Another advantage is that interest does not grow while students are enrolled in school at least-half time. Also, students do not need to make any payments until after they have been less than half-time enrolled for a continuous six months and there are no penalties for early repayment.

Unsubsidized Stafford - Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are generally the second choice of student borrowers. The only difference between this loan and the Subsidized Stafford is that interest does grow on the Unsubsidized Stafford while a student is enrolled in school.

PLUS - The Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) is a loan taken in a parent's name on behalf of their student child. PLUS loans have fixed interest rate and monthly payments begin shortly after the loan is fully disbursed.

Students in 9th and 10th grade who attend one of the target schools (Carbon High School, Pinnacle Canyon Academy, Emery High School, and Grand County High School) and are seriously considering attending college may apply to the program.

Must be a full-time Provo resident for at least two years prior to graduation, must be a high school senior of Provo School District, must be applying to attend Utah Valley University or Mountainland Applied Technology College.

Provides scholarships and guidance for students of Provo School District to attend Utah Valley University or Moutainland Applied Technology College.

Supports Jordan School District.

Provides financial support and resources to classrooms, students, and programs within Jordan School District. Assists with basic health expenses for qualified students, as determined by school nurses and as funding allows. Awards several scholarship funds each year.

Qualified applicants for funding must be between ages 0 to 21 and have not received a high school diploma, educated in Weber County, have a parent or legal guardian living in the same geographical area, and attend either a Weber County or Ogden City school.

Grant funding to foster independence and make education more accessible to Weber County children with special needs. Examples of previously purchased equipment include wheelchairs, speech machines, hearing aids, special chairs, protective helmets, bicycles and iPads.

Special Needs Grant Application Process: Applications must be submitted online through the Weber School District Foundation website by the therapist or teacher who is working with the qualified student. Grant applications are due the first of every month. All grant applications will be reviewed by the District Administrator for Children with Special Needs and preference will be given when insurance or matching funds are available.

Utah Programs include:
AIS PREP – In partnership with Utah State University, AIS established a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Program for 7th-8th grade students in Blanding and Roosevelt. AIS Literacy – In partnership with the Ken Garff Road to Success program, AIS helps provide literacy programs in 11 predominantly Native American schools to help students increase their progress in reading, in an effort to combat the high dropout rate of children between K-12th grades.
AIS Mentoring – In partnership with the San Juan Foundation, AIS helps provide mentoring programs for K-12th grade students at under-performing schools on or near the reservation.

The Maggie Welby Foundation was created to provide financial assistance for children in need, families in need, and organizations benefiting children. Applications for Grants and Fellowships online. Grants may extend to children and families in need of help with bills, athletic opportunities, medical needs, or an opportunity that a child would not otherwise have. All grants are awarded to the family, but are paid directly to the specific purpose for which the grant was applied.

Organizations that directly benefit children can also receive grants on an annual need.

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants need to be legally blind, maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for most scholarships, be a full-time student (as well as students who work 32 or more hours per week and attend college part time), and be involved in their school/local community.
