• Specializes in the care of children and adolescents with congenital heart disease, cholesterol disorders, dyslipidemia and other genetic and acquired heart diseases. Also provides care at outreach clinics in Logan, Layton, Riverton, and St. George.

Adults

Provides comprehensive consultative and on-going care (if desired by referring provider or patient) for adults with all disorders of lipid metabolism. This clinic focuses on:

- All patterns of high cholesterol and high triglycerides.
- Very low lipid levels, particularly HDL-cholesterol below 20 mg/dL or triglycerides below 50 mg/dL posing diagnostic and treatment challenges.
- Lipid Disorders in special populations: extended kindred lacking diagnosis, lipodystrophy, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, pregnancy, young adult.
- Severe insulin resistance (using over 300 units of insulin daily), requiring search for rare causes, advanced polypharmacy, or both; with counseling from on-site Certified Diabetes Educators.

Ages 0-18 and referred by a cardiologist. Sliding scale based on income.

Provides assessment, guidance and resources for children born with complex congenital heart disease. HCNP is a longitudinal program that starts while the infant is in the hospital. Patients are seen as part of a longitudinal program starting inpatient at infancy, at 12-24 months, at 3-6 years, and 9-12 years.

High risk conditions include: cyanotic heart disease; open heart surgery as a newborn, other risk factors combined with heart disease including prematurity, ECMO, genetic syndrome, seizures, heart transplant and history of cardiac arrest.

HCNP clinics are held twice a month. Assessments can take up to 4 hours.

For severe or difficult-to-manage dyslipidemias. To supplement medical lipid evaluation and treatment, offers expert dietary consultations. In addition to LDL apheresis, we offer advanced medical treatment for severe hypercholesterolemia, severe hypertriglyceridemia, and statin intolerance.
