Services Provided: A private and non-profit organization working to enforce and strengthen laws that protect the opportunities, choices, and legal rights of Utahns with disabilities. The focus is disability discrimination, and areas related to disability. Provides information and specialized information and referral only pertaining to filing for disability benefits, personal injury, family law, guardianship, or evictions. Assists with protection and advocacy, mediation, legal representation, housing discrimination, patient rights, adult protective services, disability rights, and legal information. Eligibility:

Direct guardianship services limited to incapacitated persons with no one to serve as guardians. Priority is given to persons in life threatening situations such as abuse, neglect, self-neglect, exploitation, or those at significant risk of such problems.

Services Provided:

Provides public guardianship and conservatorship services (appointed by the court) to incapacitated adults without family members or friends to serve as their guardians. Any competent adult can be appointed as a guardian. Services provided directly and contractually. Guardianship services for people with developmental disabilities may be provided through contracts with private guardianship agencies.

Vulnerable adults include those over the age of 65 or persons over the age of 18 with a mental or physical disability that substantially affects their ability to care for themselves.

Services Provided: Investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults.
